RENEWAL OF EFI ACCREDITATION IN 2019

The European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) Accreditation Programme was established to provide assurance that Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics laboratories providing services for transplantation, transfusion, and disease association testing meet the requirements of the specialty specific EFI standards. 

 The EFI standards have been regularly updated to reflect the changes in the field, and current version 7. requires changes in laboratory practices to incorporate new techniques that support patient care.

Tissue Typing Compartment in the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Vojvodina, this year successfully renewed its accreditation for all IV EFI accreditation categories: Stem cell transplantation, Kidney and organ transplantation, Disease asocciations and Transfusion.

Since last accreditation in 2018., Tissue Typing Compartment established in the routine work  several new techniques that have been certified through External Proficiency Testing programs such as KIR genotyping, Sequence Based High resolution Typing and HPA genotyping.

The accreditation process was experienced by all staff memebrs as fruitful, leading to increased self-confidence due to better documentation, education and training. We feel that detailed standards, specifically written for certain type of laboratory as our is, offer many advantages.
