EFI REACCREDITATION IN 2018-09-06

Based at Institute for Blood Transfusion of Vojvodina, the Tissue Typing Compartment provides histocompatibility and immunogenetics (H&I) services primarily for the kidney, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, liver and cardiothoracic transplant programmes. We are accredited to the ISO 9001:2015 standard for medical laboratories as well as being accredited by the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) since 2010.

We are committed to providing a service of the highest quality. All work is carried out within the framework of a documented quality system, according to good laboratory and good manufacturing practice. Techniques and procedures are validated, described in standard operating procedures, and conducted by staff whose proficiency is regularly monitored. The laboratory participates in external quality assurance schemes such as: BALKAN EPT Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Dept. Medical Biology, Turkey, (tissuy typing low/high resolution), University Hospital “Alexandrovska”, Department of Clinical Immunology and Stem Cell Bank, Sofia, Bulgaria(HLA antibody screening and identification, crossmatching, disease association),  UK NEQAS (KIR genotyping), INSTAND e.V., Dusseldorf., Germany (HPA/HNA genotyping), External Proficiency Testing Exercise, Vienna CET (tissue typing), Italian EPT , Istituto Superiore di Sanità Italia, Rome(crossmatching),  Quality Control LNRH Geneva, Switzerland(HLA antibody screening and identification).

We perform HLA antibody testing, HLA typing and crossmatching, HPA/HNA/KIR and blood group genotyping for the kidney, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, liver and cardiothoracic transplant programmes.

During the last year, we made several changes

-    in procedures: changed the typing strategy in blood group genotyping (sources of DNA were besides peripheral blood, washmouth and hair) with an aim to invetigate chimerism after HSCT as well as peripheral blood mononuclear cells freezing for panel (CDC antibody identification)

-    in techniques: Sequence Based Typing for HLA high resolution typing (HLA A/B/C/DRB1/DQB1).
